i found this helpful with practicing for situational judgment test
https://foundationprogramme.nhs.uk/resources/situational-judgement-test-sjt/practice-sjt-papers/

These are very helpful. I've gone over quite a few medic SJT questions and the public health related examples given to us on official sites, but I can't help but feel a bit anxious. Trying not to overthink it.

In which case I wonder what sort of scores are needed to progress.

Not quite the scores, but a research paper looking into PH application numbers over the period 2018-2020 said

'Over the 3 years, 1432 candidates attended the Assessment Centre, of whom 710 (49.6%) scored sufficiently highly to ‘pass’ it (Table 2). Yet due to the limited number of Selection Centre places, only 601 (84.6%) ranked sufficiently highly to take-up their invitations to Selection Centre'.

Quite an interesting paper on the bias of the process......I wonder if this is why they changed to not counting the assessment centre scores in the final mark!

I've bought an SJT book designed for medics. I seem to be doing very badly! Can anyone clarify whether when you rank SJT answers separately, or whether you're giving an order in which you're doing things?
I had thought you had to consider every option individually but my book seems to suggest it's listing the order in which you would do things!

Could you share a link to the book? I don’t think I’ve heard about this

Hiya my first time applying to the specialty programme just wondering when will we hear back if we are successful in the application stage?

It's called The ultimate FPAS SJT guide, by S Khosla and R Agarwal. It's not PH specific but I thought it would help! However, I'm not acually convinced as I disagree with a lot of the answers! (Maybe I'm wrong though!- but most of what I disagree with is this idea of whether you rank seperately or collectivly.)

Yeah, I’ve seen that paper, interesting indeed. I’m trying to get at a % I should be aiming for on the test papers. I mean, as high as possible, but I’d like a vague idea of whether I’m in with a shot or not.

Does that mean once you’re invited to interview, only your interview score determines whether you’re offered a post and when you end up location wise?

That's my understanding yes - it was a recent change. I believe it would make it fairer for non medics, as medics tend to score higher on the tests (maybe because they're a population that will be used to sitting rubbish like the SJT - for example, if you're a GP trainee applying you would have already done a type of SJT exam three times already!)

That is true and agree it makes it fairer. Thanks for explaining!

What scores have people been getting on JTP re RANRA and WTG? I've worked my way up from a 3 in the RANRA to 6 but still unsure if this will be enough to pass in the test ☹️ WG is fine, RANRA is the bane of my current existence. Any tips or additional resources would be appreciated! What score should I ideally be aiming for on JTP

Absolutely.....I keep refreshing Oriel but it's not helping!!!

I’ve just signed up to the JobTestPrep pack and have done a RANRA test. I’m a bit alarmed at how much algebra is needed. I did not do well on the second section.

I keep refreshing Oriel but still nothing yet.

Yes same here - assume we'll be emailed over the next day or so to book a test slot?

I assume so - I'm hoping the slots will be quite flexible as I could only get one of the days off work! Good luck for the exam!
