honestly i don’t really have any recommendations, it might seem daunting going in but it genuinely isn’t - all my tips would honestly be about making the most of it! there’s so much going on, i would really recommend getting involved in as much as you can and meeting as many new people as you can - some of my closest friends now and my boyfriend are people i met at bryanston! i found the workload can really differ from class to class, i got set virtually nothing whereas my friend, also a beginner, was getting quite a lot, so it’s a bit unpredictable - either way i recommend really getting your work done in the breaks between sessions, because you will absolutely want your evenings free. and trust me when i say, regardless of how much work you are set, either way you will make unbelievable progress with your greek (we were looking at gcse papers by the end of the course). the lectures are always so interesting, so i would also recommend going to all of those if possible. oh, and my tip is to sit near the back of the lectures, so that at the end you can leave quickly and get in at the front of the queue for hot chocolate 🙂 have fun! if you have any specific questions do ask, and i look forward to seeing you too!

no you’ve not missed anything dw! if you know anyone going on the course you can email and ask to be in a room together and they’ll put you together (though i think the deadline for this has passed) but if not they just allocate everyone a room! so you’re all good 🙂

hiya I was wondering how the housing was? is the accommodation nice and is there an ensuite in the room or is it shared outside? umm this is also a silly question but I was wondering what the dress code was like?

hey! the accomodation is pretty good, bryanston is a massive fancy boarding school, so the rooms are nice. there is however no en-suite as far as i’m aware? there are lots of different houses so the situation could have been different in other houses, but mine didn’t have any ensuite and i don’t think anywhere does tbh. it’s fine though, there are plenty of bathrooms and they are always very close to the rooms, so you’ll be good.

as for dress code, there isn’t one honestly! just however you would dress at home is absolutely fine, there are no restrictions whatsoever and it’s very casual. there are two themed parties during the course, which you really do not need to go all out for (most people don’t) but you could bring something to wear for that if you want? most people come unprepared so just thought that might be a helpful heads up!

hi! i'm attending this year as well for the Greek course. Is there anyone else doing advanced Greek? I'm super intimidated because my Greek is very questionable and I don't really know anyone there.
