Hi
@Ickey Southampton has good standard of living. In terms of cost of living, it is affordable. In addition, the city has a vibrant nightlife with a variety of bars and nightclubs because Southampton is very much a student city as there are two universities in Southampton. Southampton is very easy to get around and is a walkable city. There are buses as well which are frequent and easy to use. A free bus ticket is included as part of the halls accomodation, therefore, making it very easy to travel around.
Southampton has a variety of attractions during the day such as the SeaCity museum and the art gallery, as well as more historical features such as the old town walls. There is also a large shopping centre with a variety of shops.
Moreover, there is alot of greenery as there are multiple parks in Southampton, the largest being the Southampton Common, just by the Campus.
The student union has over 200 societies which cater to a variety of interests from academic to sporty to creative and therefore, is a place to meet likeminded individuals. The student union also puts on a variety of events throughout the year.
As for the course, I study some of my modules within the Department of Politics and International Relations. The department offers alot of flexibility in that there are a variety of modules on offer. The content is kept up to date with the latest research. In second and third year the majority of modules are optional giving you the chance to cater your degree to your interests. In addition, you can study some politics modules as part of your degree as well as pick to study interdisciplinary modules as well as modules from other subjects. There is also the chance to go on a year abroad or placement year.
Best Wishes,
Gulcin
