UClan med (A100)

I'm an international student that is considering medicine at UCLan but I've heard really bad comments mostly on the tuition for internationals being 46k for a uni that is placing 37th on med school rankings. Any internationals here that have tried it or have heard anything about UCLans rep?

Hello,

My name is Haya and I am an international student at UCLAN.

I would love to share my experience with you, UCLAN is very placement and patient-centred. The curriculum is spiral which meals you add onto your knowledge year by year.We also start clinical placements from year 1 which massively improves your clinical communication skills. You first two years are science based and the last three years you learn about the clinical conditions.

I understand that the tuition is quite steep but that is the case for most international student in the medical schools around the UK. UCLan is a relatively new medical school and therefore it hasn't been in the tables long enough for the ranking system, nonetheless rankings in the field of medicine don't count as much because we are all trained to the same level and competencies (and we do the same exam at the end).

Overall, I am very happy with my course and I feel like the way we learn things is really practical. You will meet a lot of international students and you will never feel like a foreigner.

When I go to different hospitals around the country doctors are often impressed with our knowledge so that is always a good thing.

Is there anything in particular you would like to know more about ?

Best of luck,
Haya

Hi
i would like to know about clinical placements? Do you keep waiting to be placed? I heard that students have to sometimes wait for an year. Its like applying for job and waiting for clinics/hospitals to accept you

Hey!

This isn’t true at all and the university arranges all placements for medical students ☺️
