Helloo thank you guys sm for the help last time I've written another RE 12 marker trying to listen to the feedback I got, so if anyone with GCSE RE AQA experience would be happy to mark it that would be amazing

The statement was "Infant Baptism is not as important as believer's baptism" and it's from Paper 1, Christian Practices
Here's my answerr:
Infant Baptism is the act of baptising your child as a baby to cleanse them from original sin. Believer's Baptism is the act of being baptised by choice as an adult, usually as full immersion rather than anointing with holy water.
Some Christians may agree with the statement because Jesus was baptised as an adult, emphasising the significance of it over Infant Baptism. However, this is a weak point because Jesus was raised as a Jew, which makes it impossible for him to have had Infant Baptism, and therefore, an irrelevant point. Moreover, actively choosing to reinforce your faith as an adult is more powerful than being baptised at a young age and it leads to a stronger connection with God. This is a strong point because it's reinforced by the Bible quote 'Faith, without works, is dead' as Believer's Baptism is a work of strengthening God's trust in them and their love for God. Finally, many people who were baptised as babies would not remember it, and it's a very special occasion that you would want to remember forever.
On the other hand, a Christian may disagree with this statement because it's important to cleanse a newborn of sin as quickly as possible for the parents to show their devotion to God as a form of evangelism. This is a strong point because throughout the Bible, it emphasises that you must spread God's word. Furthermore, a Christian may argue that Jesus was considered the "Lamb of God" as it says in the Bible: a lamb is a baby sheep and therefore children should be baptised young to accurately fulfill God's wishes. This is a weak point because there are many interpretations of that Bible quote.
In conclusion, I believe that believer's baptism is more important because it is an act of consciously and physically strengthening your faith with God.
