Should I do a level history??

Hello, I want to do a level history but haven’t done it at gcse. I have all grade 9s in every single one of my gcse exams but I’m nervous my lack of gcse knowledge will negatively impact me. Any advice would be appreciated

Hello.

You are an extremely studious individual, so taking a subject that you didn't do at GCSE will not hinder you!
There is a reason why you don't need to do GCSE history in order to do A-Level history! No prior knowledge is needed!
The exam skills, such as extracting information from a source, can be developed over your whole A-Level course. To do well in History, you need to have a strong interest in the past and a willingness to read and take notes effectively.
Familiarity with interpretation of sources will obviously help, which is where GCSE history is a great place to start, however, you achieved a grade 9 in English Literature (correct me if I am wrong), so obviously, there is no setback regarding this area!

Anymore help, please feel free to reply!
(I will be taking Geography for A-Level, despite not doing at GCSE...so we are in the same boat)

Thank you so much I really appreciate it!! Don’t worry about geography, you might be slightly behind at first but once you start learning the content you’ll realize it has elements of common sense intertwined within it. I’m definitely going to be doing history now! Thank you
