Sixth form choice (London)

I got conditional offers to both Harris Westminister (need 7 7-9's) with a score of 605 and my secondary school (need 5 4's plus subject recquirements of 6's or 7's) and i currently have the grades for both however I don't know which school to go to ( i would study biology, chemistry, maths and economics)
Harris westminster pros - everyone is academic and they get amazing results cons plus i would get to meet new people - i would have to travel far 30 mins to 1 hour and i can't drop the fourth subject if it gets too much
My school pros - also get good results (multiple students into cambridge/oxford) its a lot closer i know all the teachers and they know me and i could drop down to three subjects there will be lots of new students and ill have my same friends cons - not everyone is as academic i dont enjoy school but i never have and probably a couple more
Does anyone have any opinions on what I should do

I think try Harris Westminster, there’s lotsss of ppl on here going (dm me if u want to know more) so u shouldn’t have trouble getting to know ppl xx I think at least come for like a week, if u don’t like it you can always switch back to ur old skl. I think that a change of environment is also a great opportunity at this stage, and especially as a high achieving student, I think staying in an environment below ur academic capabilities can lead u to become bored. with the journey thing, most ppl travel around an hour or longer to get there - so ur defo not alone on that front

Hello, I’ve just got a priority 3 conditional offer and I was wondering if you could tell me more about the teachers and like support for oxbridge, ucas, uni application in general. And like is it worth taking the offer or not because I'm compelled by the sixth form’s status and reputation but I don’t know much about it.

honestly I really like the school - Oxbridge and ucas support is great (we beat Brampton, ncs and lae in successful Oxbridge offers last year). Uni applications are VERY well supported. There is a lot of work I won’t like (regular tests, homework from main and supplementary CPs) but in my opinion it’s very worth it

Hii, I was wondering how lenient the school is about being able to drop one a level and doing an a level outside of school. I chose maths, chem, bio and physics 😭😭 but I really want to do Japanese a level outside of school instead of physics. I would still be doing 4 a levels in total...

hiya
i went hwsf and i think since you’d still be doing 4 a levels, this is defo something you’ll just have to ask the school because no one else can answer for sure. what i will say is that they let you change subjects fairly easily at the start of y12 but they really don’t let you drop anything until end of y12 and even then, they force you to do an epq in y13 instead rather than just letting you do 3 a levels.

however, last yr my friend wanted to just drop bio in like the middle of y13 (which is insane tbh) and he brought his dad in to have a meeting and threatened to not work hard or achieve a good grade and they just let him drop? so they replaced his bio lesson times with free periods.

the school typically isn’t lenient with anything but i rly advise you to talk to a teacher yourself, perhaps w your parents there too to make things more serious and official, as your case is special and you’d still be doing 4 a levels.

btw i have a thread where i answer questions so anything else pls feel free to ask or pm
