Accom Help Pls!

I’m applying for 1st year undergrad accommodation for September. I’m 21 so am classed as a mature student, however, does this mean that I have to select the mature student category when applying for accommodation instead of the 1st year undergrad category? I feel like I’m still closer in age to the 18/19 year olds who will be starting than I will be to most other mature students, so would probably be more comfortable living with the other first years. Not sure how this works - do I even get a choice in the category or do I have to pick mature student because I’m 21? I feel like I’m in that awkward in-between age!!

I'm afraid I don't really have advice cause I've not actually been to uni just thinking about it right now, but I do think maybe try contacting someone from the uni if you're really unsure. But I had to comment cause I'm 21 as well and I didn't realize that if I went to uni I'd be considered a mature student... I'm withering away as we speak😂

Seriously hope you get some help with this tho cause it sounds like an awkward place to be in.

I know right it’s crazy! Way to make a girl feel old😭 The plus side is that you will be eligible for a contextual offer from a lot of unis, since being 21+ (‘mature’) is usually amongst the criteria - so if you do decide to go down the uni route it’s worth looking into! Thank you though, I hope so too - I’ll probably contact the accommodation team in the morning and see what they say. The social life may be hard to navigate when I start tho… too young for the mature students but too old for everyone else!

Oooh thank you for that new info! I hope the accommodation team help you out! And yeah I get that, it's an odd inbetween. Good luck with the accommodation and the social life!
