Help- good idea or not?- skipping skl to revise

I am in year 11 and my first written exam is literally this Friday, but my teachers are absolutely useless, everyone talks loudly in lesson and does almost none of the work, in free periods my friends just keep talking so I get no work done, and on top of that my school is only letting us have study leave after exactly half of exams are done (end of may).

Now I care about my education and am working hard, but school is ironically the worst environment for me to be in. I work much better at home and get MUCH more done. My attendance is currently like 96% but my school considers any attendance under 97% a crime against humanity or something.

Also I come home from school absolutely exhausted at 3 and start work at like 5:30 (any time before and I physically cannot function) and somehow I finish one task at like 8pm. Not even because I am slow, this just happens for some odd reason and doesn't when I have the whole day to revise.

Is it a good idea for me to not go to school some days so I can revise effectively and for the whole day with breaks that work for me? If so how often? Has anyone else done this?

this exactly 100% my school
im in yr 10 and its painful
i get hw ur feeling
my schl does the same with attendance to the point they are making people pay a fine
so ii wouldnt recommend skipping schl
have u tried to like put ur airpods in to zone out every1 then revise in lesson like carry ur revision in ur bag then do it in lesson.
it something im startin to adopt cauze schl is useless
When I know that a lesson is boring and the teacher doesn't care, I carry work or revisions I need to get done and do them in the lesson.
school is crap due to teacher crisis so its better to do independent work at home
Also, when your school gives you study leave, take that chance and get most of your revision done, so in lesson you just need to carry it and revise.
I hope this helps.
but its nice my schl isnt the only one
and we have my English lit GSCE, and the teacher is just a story and very useless.

Hiiii, my first exam is on Friday too and I KNOW how annoying it is when people in school literally don't concentrate when exams are at the corner. Since you said you work much better at home, in my opinion I would stay home and take the opportunity to revise!! But if you still have content to go over then you should stay at school, otherwise learn effectively and efficiently at home. And we literally have 4 or 5 weeks left of school so attendance doesn't really matter

To be honest, I have "called in sick" and stayed at home to revise and omds it was good! I was so productive, revision was effective and I actually remembered all that I learnt. I would do it again but I still have content to revise in school.

For how many days to skip school is up to you really, but don't skip too much like a WHOLE week because you might miss on something important that can help you in the exam. Also, use the day to revise at home if it's a need. Like when you want to really focus, grind on your studies and work hard for the grade that you want.

Coming home exhausted is REAL. I always start my revision at 5pm near to yours because I need that 2 hours (3pm - 5pm) to relax and put myself in a better position to revise cuz the last thing that you want is to be burnt out. Teachers not being effective is REAL. Like i get that their tired and that it's the end of the year but like this is our GCSEs? which need FULL attention. If a lesson is just wasted with people yapping, I do the work home and self-teach myself even though that time could've been used for something else.
Once on study leave, take.that.opportunity. Your academic comeback needs to come in clutchhh. Use it very wisely and of course take breaks. Use it to strengthen weakness for preparation for paper 2 or for any other exams that you may have

Hopes this helps! Wishing you all the best on friday and on your other exams

Look I'm not saying I recommend it, but some people do do better revision at home. Just aware that even if you/your parent does call in "sick" be aware schools might have a policy that might not let you back for 48 hours especially for things like d&v, or that kind of thing.

I think some schools don't do it anymore :frown:
I remember even when I was doing my gcses in 2015 they were phasing it out because teachers wanted to do group revision sessions.

I completely understand people who skip school to revise at home, i envy them. My parents would never allow me but its a very useful thing to do if school isn't being any benefit to you.
It sounds like studying at home would be very beneficial to you seeing as transport, people talking, less study leave will affect you're learning. I completely understand the attendance thing too, in my sixthform - they said that an attendance under 95% will need to be talked about and if you miss more than 10 lessons, you're going to be down a grade or two. Nonsense.
If you're not learning anything new, i do think it would be useful to skip some days. Just come in on same days so your attendance isn't the worst. Loads of people did this during my GCSE and even more people do this for Alevel.
