Subject worries

Hi I am a year 12 student doing A levels in biology chemistry and geography. I am coming to the end of the year and have realised that I hate biology and geography as subjects but love chemistry. I want to do chemistry and the climate in university. Does anyone have this same issues and am I cooked? I wish I did physics maths and chemistry but I dont know.
Hi, I am a year 13 student so I hope I can help a little!

First of all I understand hating your subject really impacts motivation because why do something you don't like? In my first year I did history which I hated! So I put no effort into it at all and was predicted a D. However are you good at biology and geography? Because if so, I would then say just push through it as year 13 flies by and all you need is that grade at the end of the year.

Another option is retaking year 12. This is what I did and it might sound a bit daunting but it was the best choice I could have made because now hopefully I will be heading to a top uni in September! I just need the grades (fingers crossed). I went from being predicted C,DD in my first year to A*,A,A because I retook my first year with subjects I actually enjoy.

More students than you think do that, and doing this allowed me to switch from history to psychology which I am so glad I did because I love psychology and that is what I will be doing in uni.

It's up to you because you dislike 2/3 of your subjects. Think about it and do whatever option you think will get you the highest grade you deserve at the end of your courses. Just make sure you know you will actually like physics and maths, personally I haven't heard good things from people who do those courses but you might be better off with advice from someone who does them.

I didn't even research the course components of psychology because I was just desperate to drop history so that was a gamble, but it was definitely worth it!

You don't need maths and physics for most chemistry degrees. It's certainly helpful background to have but there are plenty of options where you don't need those, and you'll cover any necessary background in the first year if they don't require those subjects. Typically there will be a maths module or tutorial support for those who didn't do A-level Maths as I understand.

For climate science, oceanography, earth sciences and related subjects separate to chemistry, there are usually no specified A-level subjects, although A-level Maths would generally be useful (but often as above, if you don't have it you do a module in first year to get that background).
