Will Oxford accept iGCSE resits in the subject you want to study?

I just had my English Language GCSE, and I did so much worse than I usually do. One careless mistake/misreading potentially cost me half of Question 1, and I'm worrying it'll bring me down from my predicted A* to an A.

I'm aware that an A otherwise would be fine ... except I'm planning to major in English literature. Also, all my other grades will likely be A*/As, so my not getting an A* in my chosen subject is going to be very obvious.

In case anyone wonders why I want to major in a subject that is far from my best GCSE-wise, English is a lifelong passion that I've always been consistently good at. I just majorly slipped up this one time, and it happened to be on my actual GCSE.

So if I don't get an A*, will Oxford judge me for resitting this iGCSE to get one in the subject I'm majoring in? Or is it not worth trying and they won't care if I get only an A?

If you're 100% confident you can get an A*, I'd say to go for it. Can they even see if you've resat an exam? If they can, it would be best to keep a copy of your report when you got an A just to show that you didn't fail it, and managed to get an A* the next time. Also (from what I know (I don't go there, but I really want to study linguistics there) Oxford don't care too much about your GCSEs, as long as they're As. What they care more about is your A levels and your passion for the subject, which it sounds like you definitely have

I'd just check (maybe email them) to see if they can see if you've resat a GCSE, because if they can, then it might not be worth it.
