UCLan med

Im thinking of going to UCLan med with foundation year because I'm international and have already taken a gap year. They give a small cash prize for athletes and I could get that. I get it's kind of expensive for the education they give but I really like the early exposure to clinic and the cost of living isn't as high as other unis. Students of UCLan is the medical programme good?

Hi Anonymous,

There are a few really good points that you've raised here! In terms of our sports scholarships, you can view more about them here.

We do offer early clinical contact right from year 1 meaning that you really get used to seeing and interacting with patients during the early years - this is great for developing your communication skills.

As for the cost of living, UCLan is one of the most affordable student cities to live in! So far I have enjoyed my time at UCLan as a medical student!

If you have any questions I'm more than happy to answer them!

Hi @ola_2007,

Here at UCLan we do offer a course in BSc (Hons) Medical Sciences (with Foundation Year). The entry requirements for this course can be found on our course page linked here. This course offers a foundation stage for our Medical Sciences degree, with the possibility of then applying to progress to other courses such as our Medicine MBBS programme.

However, please note that progression onto these courses is not guaranteed and is subject to specific entry criteria and/or a competitive interview process. More information on this can be found on the course page.

Best wishes,
Laura
