Hey, absolutely legendary for making this group btw.
During 2023, the source was Vietnam, the essays were economy 1865-90 and domestic policy and government intervention 1920-45 and I actually can't find the last one. Overall, though we should be able to make educated guesses from this. I stole this information from another thread but it is definitely going to be helpful for making predictions also. My only real guess right now is that Foreign Policy seems like a likely option for an essay.

Questions from previous papers:
2022
Source 1920s and 1930s society
1865-1890 African American progress
New Freedom Wilson and Roosevelt
1945-1968 economy growth
2021
Source changes in US society 1945-1975
Effective cooperation between president and congress 1865-1890
Populism politics
1920-1945 foreign policy
2020
Source foreign policy 1865-1890
Growth US economy 1890-1920 effects
African americans 1920-1941
US presidents domestic reform 1945-1968
2019
Source economic policies 1929-1949
Laissez faire economics 1865-1890
Immigration 1890-1920
Cold war 1955-1975
2018
Presidents gilded age
Imperialism 1890-1920
Progress of women 1920-1945
1945-1964 economic growth

Heyy, dw you're super welcome. Looking at the list, the most common themes that come up across all the periods are economy, foreign policy, domestic policy and society, e.g women, african americans, native americans and immigration. So I'm just making essay plans on all 4 of those factors for each period so like 16 essay plans should cover the majority of the breadth of the course in terms of content because its split in 4 periods and those factors are likely to appear on the paper.

I may be wrong but I think 1920-1945 economics could be key, as theonly thing that's rocked up is policy in 2019. Also your list and predictions are really helpful, same with your essay plan advice

i think you also get questions like "how much of x was the fault/credit of the president" or "to what extent was event influenced by x (where x could be, like, manifest destiny)" or something like that?

Yeah it’d be useful to do a refresh of key ideas like manifest destiny, mccarthyism/red scare and isolationism vs imperialism

i'm worried we'll get asked smth like "how important was the end of the frontier" or "how important was the monroe doctrine in us foreign policy"

okay the monroe doctrine one actually seems kinda plausible lmao but that and the frontier one are more likely to be for the source to be honest so its better to just have a broad understanding of those

The ending of the frontier is actually one of my favourite parts bc I learnt a lot from the Yellowstone series'. I'm glad the Vietnam war is least likely to come up, as I'm not that confident in after 1945

I actually love Vietnam lmao so I would loved it as a source but 1945-1975 Foreign Policy can still come up so it’d be cool if it was cold war related even if it came up in 2019

Reply 15

African American Progress 1945-1975 still hasn’t come up, so that would be a 10/10 question to answer really good topic

Does anyone remember what one of the questions was from last year. I have Vietnam War, domestic policy 20-45 and economy 65-90. But I don't know the 4th one

Hi, just joined this group. Thanks for making it. I really believe they’re gonna give us a question related to civil rights post 1945. A nice question would be over the corruption during Gilded Age
