Long distance friendship turned romantic need advice!

Hi, so I studied abroad for six months during September 22-jan 23 and I made friends with a guy and it was always just very friendly. He at the time had a few relationships during these months. I went back to see my friends last year twice and he came and said hi and it was just very chill having a coffee. But then in January he came to visit me over here and things got very romantic and we kissed etc. but I am actually going back to his country to for work in September however he said to me oh we will just be friends.. he since has asked me to go back to see him this summer twice however he informed me that he has a girlfriend now but it would still be ok to come and I said no I don’t think that’s right. Anyway we still text most days and send reels on Instagram to each other but now I’m feeling quite uncomfortable because he has a girlfriend. What are your thoughts on this? I feel really confused
