Identity Evidence and Deadline Questions

Ok, lots of questions here:
1. I'm currently applying for student finance for September and have just had to upload a photo of my birth certificate since I don't have a valid passport. All other areas of my application have also been completed but my account is still saying I have 'actions to complete' as the 'identity evidence' section is marked in yellow as 'received'. I'm wondering what this means? Has my entire application been submitted? Or will it only be submitted after my identity evidence has been validated and will then be subject to further processing times?
2. Also, does this time spent processing mean I may miss the deadline? Or since my application has been fully filled in is it still classed as being submitted before the deadline?
3. What are the penalties for missing the deadline?
4. I understand that my guardian won't be able to provide additional supporting information (for the maintenance loan) until this part of the application is submitted, but since I have filled everything in should they be emailed within the next few days? Or when my identity evidence is approved? Also, is this part of the application also subject to the same deadline?

If you can't tell, I'm very stressed about this and would appreciate some help

Hi Olly,

First of all, this is a recommended deadline only. The actual deadline is 9 months after the start of your course, so there's no need to worry.

Now that your birth certificate is uploaded it will be processed in around 6 working days: your account will then update to show this.

Has your parent / guardian now received the e-mail from us?

Thanks, Graeme

Thanks. If they login to their accounts and click on 'support an application' it should allow them to do this directly. If it's for the upcoming 24/25 academic year and they are having issues supporting this online they can complete the paper form and upload this to your account (or their accounts). This will ensure the application is assessed accordingly in an estimated 22 working days: https://assets.publishing.service.gov.uk/media/65afcca870218e000cb41f9a/sfe_pff2_form_2425_o.pdf

I was under the impression that they couldn't create an account until they had been contacted? Also, whereabouts is the option on my account to upload the form?

They can still create an account. You can upload evidence and forms by going to the 'Manage your student finance' section in the sidebar on the right of your screen. You will then see a link to 'Upload supporting evidence' and can use this to send us your evidence/form.Thanks, Jason

Hi, my identity evidence is still marked as received but I've just had an email saying that my identity evidence can't be processed since my application hasn't been submitted but I can't submit my application online until my identity evidence has been processed, should I resend my identity evidence as I now have a valid passport?

Hi Olly2106,

You will need to submit your main online application before we can review your ID evidence - there should be an option to submit your application when you log into your online account.

Thanks,
Calum
