21 and don’t have any close friends

I feel like such a saddo- I have two friends from school I’m still in touch with- a handful of old friends that I hear from sometimes but no one I see I regularly. I left uni and none of my school friends are in my hometown- I start at a new uni in September and hope to widen my social circle.

I feel so isolated atm, like i do have people to text and chat with but no deep connections or group. I had a good circle at my old uni and went out a lot so this gap year out feels bleak.

Does anyone have advice to build deeper friendships with new uni friends?

Thanks

All you can do is be present and be who you are and the friendships will come around. It's really hard making new friends, but if you join clubs and get involved with stuff that interests you, then you should be able to find new friends. Be diligent and don't give up on going out there and finding friends.
