The Student Room Group

received conditional offer 2nd year

received conditional offer, accepted the offer, but the offer letter says
"This offer is subject to you meeting the following conditions: Pass Certificate in Higher Education. Pass all modules of CertHE Level 4 including any resits"

it's lower tier university, will they take me in?
i did flop my first year, failed it.

Your offer is conditional on you achieving the qualifications as mentioned in our letter. If you meet those conditions, then your offer becomes unconditional. It being a lower ranked university is irrelevant to this.

All universities require some type of qualification in order for you to be admitted unless you are applying as a mature student which means you have work / life experience to bring to the table. If you applied through UCAS you must've have mentioned what qualification you currently have, what are they? are you currently in school? did you apply with grades/quals in hand?

i flopped my first year. i did request to change my course which they did and gave me conditional offer.
what i don't understand is why is it a requirement to pass on a course that is completely different to the one i changed too?

If there is no way that you can meet the offer then you need to contact the Uni and tell them.

“I’m aware that I won’t be able to meet the conditions of my offer, my results will be available on DATE. Can you advise whether I might still be considered?”

Are you looking to stay on your current course or go elsewhere? Is the offer a backup?

If you want to stay on your current course, speak to your student union and get a rep to come with you to any appeal meeting.

Read your student handbook and any regs regarding appeals. You can’t appeal just because you disagree with the outcome, you usually need to present info that wasn’t considered the first time around, as well as explain why you hadn’t brought it up before.

i failed the exams for my current course, for that reason they won't put me on for a different course, i don't have any backup offers or there isn't any for me.

Sorry, I was trying to clarify whether appealing and staying at your current uni was your preference. I gave some advice regarding that above.

Your first post talks about holding an offer elsewhere. I presumed that was essentially your plan B.
