11 GCSEs, 1 Year 11, -2 days. A (slightly too late) GYG.
Hi everyone! 
I'm very excited to start my first GYG ever!!
I've only been here on TSR properly for just over a week, but I think I've found my people here. Everyone is so supportive and helpful, it's like we're all 1 big academic family, trying to help each other succeed in life!
Now for a bit of backstory: As you have probably been able to gleam from the title, I am in Y11, and I have just started my GCSEs!!!
Things have gone (surprisingly) extremely well as of yet, but I've only had 2 exams so far. I've started this GYG to get me to actually kick my *** into gear in regards to revision - since apparently the biggest and most important exams I've ever faced in my life aren't enough! I can't seem to motivate myself, so hopefully (don't hedge your bets!) creating some accountability with this GYG will be enough to get me to buck my ideas up!
I'm aiming for all 7s and above! (except in History, Edexcel can shove their History GCSE up to where the sun doesn't shine for all I care!)
Here are my subjects, my mock grades, and the grades I want (In that order!)
Maths: 6, 8
English Lit: 7, 9
English Lang: 8, 9, Distinction (Already got that distinction
)
Biology: 9, 9
Chemistry: 7, 7
Physics: 9, 9
French: 9, 9!!!
History: 8, 6 (my mock was only on one topic, so I could actually remember all the dates and AO1, but I have no chance for the real GCSE)
Music: 6, 7
Computing: 9, 9
Religious Studies: 6, 8
So, yes, pretty ambitious! But I reckon if I pull my finger out (and my credit card to pay for the therapy I'll need after) they're perfectly achievable!

- I LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE FRENCH!!!!!
No idea where it came from, but one day in early Year 10, I developed a random obsession with French, and it's been my favourite subject ever since! So excited to start my A level in it! 
- I want to go to Oxford so badly to study PPL - Psychology, Philosophy, Linguistics (although that's probably not possible with these grades), so I'm going to try really hard with my A levels and supercurriculars starting this summer! (will be making a GYG about that too, stay tuned
)
- My favourite book is The Elven, a MASSIVE fantasy novel I read on my Kindle in Year 6. It took me the whole summer to read it, but I reread it every year because the story is so good! (poor Nuramon
)
-I HATE modern pop music!!!! (Anything made in the last 20 years!). MOST of it (there are always exceptions!) is so soulless, commercialised, and sexualised, I prefer my Chopin ballades and Beethoven symphonies thank you very much!

How has everyone's morning been? I got woken up by a magpie outside my window at like 6:30 AM, could've been better but hey, at least I woke up early! I made my favourite breakfast (Honey and nut shredded wheats) and read 'Les vacances du petit Nicolas' in the sunshine
I know it's a children's book, but it's one that I enjoy, and can read comfortably in French. Maybe this makes me childish, but I think it's a really good book regardless! My sister left for her DofE expedition just now; really hoping the weather stays nice for her!
So, straight down to business:

If anyone has any tips for revising History (Or just lots of extremely boring and pointless information, it's the same thing), please let me know! I tried blurting for the first time ever on Thursday morning for Biology, and it worked wonders! Going to see if it works for History, maybe I'll try making some acronyms up / some weird imagery because that's what really helps me remember things. Hopefully it works

They went way better than I was expecting them to! I had RS on Thursday, and I was able to answer all the questions really well, which I'm so proud of because I thought that I would only get a 5 or a 6, but now I'm feeling like I can get a 7/8 (which will obviously be amazing for my PPL at uni!
) I crammed like hell for Biology the night before (Thursday night), and I think I got ~80-85%, so definitely grade 9 worthy! I just need to make sure I don't flop paper 2 (which is literally the most disgusting paper out of all of the sciences so I think I'll only get like 60-70%), but hopefully I'll get lucky with my revision and the questions on the paper! Thank you all so much for your support! Feeling more motivated than ever!! In terms of my revision today, I finished my maths lesson, and am now halfway through the Mr Salles video. I'm feeling so so so much better about my GCSEs now, my goals that I set out really feel in reach now! The only thing stopping me from getting the grades I want now is my procrastination, so I'm just going to power right through until lunch! Wish me luck guys!

Feeling more motivated than ever!! In terms of my revision today, I finished my maths lesson, and am now halfway through the Mr Salles video. I'm feeling so so so much better about my GCSEs now, my goals that I set out really feel in reach now! The only thing stopping me from getting the grades I want now is my procrastination, so I'm just going to power right through until lunch! Wish me luck guys! Reply 13

How has everyone's morning been? I got woken up by a magpie outside my window at like 6:30 AM, could've been better but hey, at least I woke up early! I made my favourite breakfast (Honey and nut shredded wheats) and read 'Les vacances du petit Nicolas' in the sunshine I know it's a children's book, but it's one that I enjoy, and can read comfortably in French. Maybe this makes me childish, but I think it's a really good book regardless! My sister left for her DofE expedition just now; really hoping the weather stays nice for her!

If anyone has any tips for revising History (Or just lots of extremely boring and pointless information, it's the same thing), please let me know! I tried blurting for the first time ever on Thursday morning for Biology, and it worked wonders! Going to see if it works for History, maybe I'll try making some acronyms up / some weird imagery because that's what really helps me remember things. Hopefully it works

Hi everyone!
I'm very excited to start my first GYG ever!!
I've only been here on TSR properly for just over a week, but I think I've found my people here. Everyone is so supportive and helpful, it's like we're all 1 big academic family, trying to help each other succeed in life!
Now for a bit of backstory: As you have probably been able to gleam from the title, I am in Y11, and I have just started my GCSEs!!! Things have gone (surprisingly) extremely well as of yet, but I've only had 2 exams so far. I've started this GYG to get me to actually kick my *** into gear in regards to revision - since apparently the biggest and most important exams I've ever faced in my life aren't enough! I can't seem to motivate myself, so hopefully (don't hedge your bets!) creating some accountability with this GYG will be enough to get me to buck my ideas up!
I'm aiming for all 7s and above! (except in History, Edexcel can shove their History GCSE up to where the sun doesn't shine for all I care!)
Here are my subjects, my mock grades, and the grades I want (In that order!)
Maths: 6, 8
English Lit: 7, 9
English Lang: 8, 9, Distinction (Already got that distinction)
Biology: 9, 9
Chemistry: 7, 7
Physics: 9, 9
French: 9, 9!!!
History: 8, 6 (my mock was only on one topic, so I could actually remember all the dates and AO1, but I have no chance for the real GCSE)
Music: 6, 7
Computing: 9, 9
Religious Studies: 6, 8
So, yes, pretty ambitious! But I reckon if I pull my finger out (and my credit card to pay for the therapy I'll need after) they're perfectly achievable!
A few facts about me:
- I LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE FRENCH!!!!! No idea where it came from, but one day in early Year 10, I developed a random obsession with French, and it's been my favourite subject ever since! So excited to start my A level in it!
- I want to go to Oxford so badly to study PPL - Psychology, Philosophy, Linguistics (although that's probably not possible with these grades), so I'm going to try really hard with my A levels and supercurriculars starting this summer! (will be making a GYG about that too, stay tuned)
- My favourite book is The Elven, a MASSIVE fantasy novel I read on my Kindle in Year 6. It took me the whole summer to read it, but I reread it every year because the story is so good! (poor Nuramon )
-I HATE modern pop music!!!! (Anything made in the last 20 years!). MOST of it (there are always exceptions!) is so soulless, commercialised, and sexualised, I prefer my Chopin ballades and Beethoven symphonies thank you very much!

Nice seeing you do your own gyg and I'm sure u have secured those grades u wanna achieve
Me too I love linguistic but ngl I find french out of all languages rly hard so I stick to my Spanish and Arabic etc
Anyways keep it up and your grades will fly through the roof

I actually read your gyg after your contributions in the biology paper 1 chat and it inspired me to make my own Thank you for having belief in me! Tbh, a lot of people in my year say French is way too difficult, but for some reason I think it's literally the most easy subject ever. Most of it is just a few basic rales with some excpetions that you can learn, but after that, it's very straightforward!
