GCSE aqa Inspector calls

Since we have a choice in Theme and Character in Inspector calls for part b, I was wondering if it would work out if I just memorized character quotes and not do themes at all. It's difficult for me to memorize a lot of quotes and I'm not good at it but I do have a grade 7-8 in both English. If themes come up for section A I can talk about it with the extract no problem. Just for part B can I just memorize character or choose one between the other (I know themes and character can connect).
