Rhul clubbing

Can someone tell me how clubbing at Surrey is. Is it on campus or do people mainly travel to clubs. Are there themed nights or stuff like that? I’ve heard one of the good clubs have closed (I forgot the name though) so had this affected how fun it used to be? Also if you bring friends from another uni, how much do you pay for those tickets to go clubbing in like medicine or the su? <3
Thank you

Although London’s an hour away the train stations close after midnight so realistically clubbing cannot be done in London unless I go home to london. I was more asking if there’s clubs near the uni and if the club insight was any good. And how many friends from other unis are allowed to come to medicine and the su.
Thank you!
There’s a club on campus all the students go to on the regular that’s meant to be really good! Also there is a students union. There are bars around Egham. Lots of students travel to Windsor, Staines and surrounding areas and get taxis back also.

Hello,

Of course, that's understandable! There are some good spots right on your doorstep in Egham including, our thriving Students’ Union. Our SU venue is very popular and hosts different club nights every week, find out more here: https://www.royalholloway.ac.uk/student-life/being-a-student/students-union/

Not only that, but you are also within easy reach of a few other places with a big student nightlife in Windsor and Kingston. Chat with some of our current students to find out more and ask any questions you might have about student life: https://www.royalholloway.ac.uk/chat/

So there's a few venues on the campus, Medicine is good for Mondays and Thursdays, the SU is open for Wednesdays and Fridays, Packhorse pub gets really busy on Tuesday nights as 2 for 1 drinks. Depending on how busy it is you may be allowed to bring a guest in to meds and SU but you have to pay for them and they are under your responsibility, so if they cause trouble the security have your details and it can reflect on you. Windsor has lots of clubs, ATIK, Labyrinth, Boom Bar, Fuzzy Bear etc. some free entry some to pay entry but no more than a 10 min uber from campus. If you sign up to a ticket company like Fatsoma they host lots of events and can take you on coaches to places like PRZYM Watford or Kingston, usually joint with Brunel university these nights. The campus usually does themed nights but people don't always stick to it if it's a bit cringe. Hope this helps

thank you so so much for the details!! In terms of Ubers for like a ten minute Uber how much would it typically cost?

Download Bolt and use it instead of uber! it’s the same thing but different company, and it’s much cheaper!

I’d definitely get the train/bus there for the clubs but taxi back would be around £40

Hi, I'm a current RHUL student so I can tell you what you need to know!

The closed club is ATIK in windsor

Medicine is usually free or (rarely) £2, and the SU is usually £6-£11, with guest tickets being about the same amount and available for purchase on the SU website

The clubs in London are available and people typically go to clubs such as Ministry of Sound, and Pryzym Kingston.

The last trains are at midnight, so people will typically do one of 2 things:

Get Ubers to and from London OR stay in London till about 5am (really not crazy when you are at a club till 3 or 4), and get a train home

So, when people get Ubers to and from London, the normal price is between £40-£60. The comfort is a factor, a nice air conditioned car door to door is very nice, especially as it's cold at night and people don't wear massive coats to the club. So if you get an Uber, we usually go with 4 people (flatmates or other friends) then split it 4 ways, so the cost is about £10-£20.

The closure of ATIK hasn't really affected things that badly, the clubbing scene is still good. SU and Meds are fun, but you will end up spending lots of money on drinks if you like to have a few at the club. What you need to do is pre-drink well, get a bottle of vodka and mixers from Tesco or the local corner shop. Then pre drink with your flatmates or look on the group chats for people hosting pre-drinks at their flats. Just don't act too drunk around security when you queue up to get in, as they will turn you away lol

Any more advice, feel free to ask me x
