rate these unis for physics undergrad

University of Aberdeen
University of Surrey
University of Strathclyde

Was wondering people’s experience, thoughts and opinions on these unis as I’m considering applying to them for physics
I’ve looked at the modules and course options etc and any further info or opinions on these would also be helpful along with any other stuff

Hi, this is the University of Aberdeen rep account. It can sometimes be hard to find people who have studied in a specific subject on site so I thought I'd come in with some information about our uni you might find helpful.

To see what people think of the universities you are interested in I would recommend having a search around this site for students of each of the unis you have interest in to see what the general consensus is. There may be some current students who are active that you can ask there.
For making your choices of where to apply, it's also worth thinking about the cities and what appeals to you. Do you want to be close to or far away from home, do you want to be in a big or small city, are there things/places in that city that you're interested in or will be good for any hobbies you have; those sorts of factors should definitely be on your mind as well as the actual courses of each of the universities.
Then it would be worth having a look on each of our websites to see what appeals to you about the courses eg. course content, projects you will get to do through your degree, prospects upon graduation, that sort of thing. Sounds like you've done a lot of this already which is great research and hope it's given you a better picture of them.
We also offer the opportunity to talk to some of our current staff and students through Unibuddy which may be of interest to you: https://www.abdn.ac.uk/study/student-life/student-chat

I hope this information has been useful and all the best with finding more information! Let us know if you have any questions about Aberdeen at all.

Hi there 🙂

I hope the above reply has helped you.

I recommend reading our student life page to help you understand what living and studying in Guildford is like, as well as what the Stag Hill campus is like.

Another recommendation is to visit each of these unis if you can, to see if you can imagine yourself studying there. You're more likely to succeed where you're the happiest. Playing into that is ensuring you're picking the course that offers the modules you're most interested in, as studying what you enjoy will likely help with motivation.

I hope this helps!

Hey @Nat4695 😀 You've already got some great advice in this thread! I'd definitely echo what's been said - and my biggest piece of advice is try to consider what's most important to you and then work out how we'll each fit in with your own priorities for your University experience.

One of our current UG Physics students is available to chat with on Unibuddy if you'd like to speak to one of our current students directly 🤗

Would you need to travel far to get to any of these unis? Are you hoping to stay at home/move away? 🙂
