Choosing an insurance choice

I'm having a hard time choosing what to put as my insurance choice, any help or tips would be appreciated! (All courses MChem with year in industry)

I have decided to put Bath as my firm choice (AAB)

And am deciding whether to put Southampton (also AAB)
or Birmingham (AAA) as firm, however Birmingham have said in an email that they would guarantee a place if I missed my grades by one, so also AAB

I would rather go to Birmingham than Southampton, as I loved it when I visited, but it has a higher grade offer than Bath so would be weird putting it second, and probably wouldnt end up going to southampton if I were to get in there, and instead take a gap year.

Thanks for any replies!

Have you spoken to Bath about the possibility of them accepting you with ABB? If that’s likely then you would be expecting Birmingham to accept you if you got BBB or lower for an AAA offer. Do you think that’s possible? Have Birmingham got a BSc with lower requirements or a foundation year entry that makes you think that it would be a sensible backup option?

Did you have any choices/offers from universities around the BBB mark?

If Brum are already stating that they will accept 'below grades' then then they are a good choice for Insurance, as its likely that they already know that they will need to go lower than that to fill the course. In the past Bath have accepted a few folk for Chemistry who have just missed the offer but still wanted grade A in Chemistry.

Good point, I haven't spoken to Bath about ABB but I think it would be likely given the low numbers of chemistry applicants if I got an A in chem, and Birmingham BBB would be very unlikely. Birmingham has BSc with AAB, but then Bath has BSc with ABB.

Overall very low chance if I missed bath to go to birmingham.
My lowest offers are all AAB (3) with 2 at AAA

Yeah that's what I was thinking, but if Bath match Birmingham's lower grades I either get in there or no where.
