UCL PWP: Intake Sep/Oct 2024

A thread for this cohort to discuss the application process for the 'Psychological Wellbeing Practitioner' (PWP) role via UCL; start date September / October 2024.
-(Applicants from April / May 2024)

Q.1) Does anyone know how long UCL take to confirm or reject an application ?

Q.2) Are all interviews conducted 'Face To Face' (FTF) ?
- from what I've read, they are very particular about the dates of interviews, and so I wondered if they would have the same approach in regard to whether it is conducted Online or FTF.

Hey! Thanks for starting this!! I recently finished my application and also wondered how long they will take 🧐

I believe they conduct online interviews and face-to-face i saw it stated in the application pack somewhere, but not sure!

Do you know roughly when interviews take place?

Anyone get update on application

I was contacted today for a copy of my official undergrad transcript. I presume this is routine and every other applicant- or just about-has received this query as well.

Hi all, I am also still waiting to hear back. Please update if you get a response ☺️

Hey guys! I’ve also applied, i’m not 100% i have a good chance of getting it as i’ve since read over my supporting statement and i can tell i rushed it a bit lol and i also don’t have a lot of paid experience but i do volunteer with shout and i think my grades are pretty good.

Anyways im still waiting to hear back i’ve not heard anything at all. Someone said they were contacted about their official transcript, I’m assuming this won’t be the case for me as i uploaded it during the application process i believe but not entirely sure.

I’ve read other posts and they said after 5-6 weeks you’ll usually get a response so hoping we’ll find out sometime this week or next? Fingers crossed cause i’m getting anxious and regardless of if they accept me or don’t i just want to know!

My application is still is the "application under assessment" stage, has anyone else's moved or remained the same?

Mine hasn’t changed either

Hey everyone! I was the one who posted re the transcript thing. Let's remember that most folks said it took 5-6 weeks to hear from a service/ucl. This is only week 4 for us.

Yes, they ask for a transcript when you first apply for the role. But if you didn't upload one initially then I'm assuming that's why they've reached out to you. Good luck, hope it all goes well! 😊

Yes, it is merely routine as I mentioned. It would be lovely to be a successful candidate so thank you! However, I have other options should I not make the cut.

Do you mind me asking what your other options are? I’m hoping to be a clinical psych so i’ve applied to this for experience, would be a pwp for 2 years and then apply for the doctorate.

Is anyone else planning to be a clinical psych?

I’ve received an offer to be a SEMH/SEN TA, which still counts as good experience so i’m happy with that - i’ve also applied to be a healthcare assistant in a mental health facility and if i get that, that would also be good experience.

I'm currently working as a mental health care assistant. I would continue with that for a few more months both for experience but also because I enjoy my work. I do hope to eventually work as a high intensity CBT professional though.

I just got an email today saying that the status of my application has changed. Checked on the portal, and I've been unsuccessful this time ☹️

Same here, I was unsuccessful. 😏 Reason was: we have high levels of applicants this year, so we need to pick the strongest applicants.

Hi guys, don’t be disheartened, you can always reapply. Did everyone get feedback if they were unsuccessful and how comprehensive was it? Can you reapply in Sept or do you have to wait until next year?

Reply 18

Did everyone get comprehensive feedback? Good luck if you decide to reapply 😊

They weren't able to provide specific feedback as I imagine they received a very high volume of applications. I did get to the interview stage last time, but not this time round. Must have been a more competitive cohort this year! But never mind 😊 Good luck to everyone else still waiting!!
