The Student Room Group

durham v bristol law

I have offers from both. I'm currently leaning towards Durham but still would like to hear more opinions.
I've heard a lot about both but I've been told to choose Bristol mostly because of its student life. other than that, what does it have the upper hand in? because frankly, it doesn't matter to me because I can always go to Newcastle if I go to Durham.
what is matters most to me is employability and the overall prestige of the uni and education. a lot of people claim they are equal but I feel like there must be one that is favored.
I've also heard about racism in Durham, though I'm not poc, I am Middle Eastern and not from a "rich posh" background. was wondering how much of an issue would that cause me.

Thanks!

Yeah but do you want to be commuting into Newcastle for a night out?

Both unis are posh and heavily white so not an important factor here at all

Hiya! I was stuck in the exact same position a few months ago picking between Durham and Bristol - my best advice would be to pick which university based on where you want to live for the next three years and which course you prefer. Both are very highly reputable unis, when I was researching to firm my choices I found that Oxbridge will typically be the standout for law firms after that the latter Russell group unis in the top 10 are viewed as equal. However, Bristol has good links to London law firms as I've heard, if that influences your decision? But otherwise, I'd pick based on where YOU want to go because in the long run I don't think it will affect employer's decisions as drastically as you may think.
