Ocr alevel chem

I do OCR ALEVEL chemistry (yr13) and have a month left until exams. I am confident that I will get an A or B and have done many questions. Should I start doing Edexcel questions now?? What can I do that will benefit me the most?

You can try doing Edexcel questions, but be aware that there are differences between the two syllabi.

Edexcel covers the colours and reactions of some transition metal complexes not on the OCR spec (vanadium being the main one), grignard reagents (definitely not on the OCR spec but could come up as an unfamiliar mechanism question, since it’s just nucleophilic addition) and the entropy topic is covered in more depth (i.e ΔS is referred to as ΔSsystem and you need to know how to calculate ΔStotal and ΔSsurroundings, plus ΔG = -RTlnK is on the Edexcel spec).

OCR will be more beneficial as the styles of questions are ever so slightly different.

There’s nothing to stop you doing questions from other exam boards including Edexcel. I would encourage you to have a go at least a few questions for that reason, but be aware that you may not be able to answer some questions for these exam boards due to content you haven’t covered.
