Can’t get a UCAS reference

I dropped out of uni a couple months ago. I was studying adult nursing and I dropped out for personal reasons. I realised I have made a mistake and would like to go back and study nursing this September. I have contacted my old sixth form for my reference and they aren’t getting back to me and I’ve contacted them a few times about this, I only finished sixth form in 2023. I don’t want to ask my workplace for a reference as I have only been there for a month and they cannot provide any academic information on me. Is there any way I can still apply to university?

You will need to use the Uni you left for a reference - get in touch with your Personal Tutor.

Thank you. I want to apply for the same course I left though so I’m not sure if that would be an issue

Then you need to speak directly with that Uni asap,
This is about resuming your place at a Uni where you were already a student - it has nothing to do with UCAS.

I already spoke to the uni and they said I’d have to restart from year 1- so I want to just apply to a different university

In that case you need to nominate a referee from your previous uni. Either your personal tutor or a module teacher.

Did you actually complet a full year of your previous degree? Or more than that?
Are you assuming you can just switch to Year 2 on a Nursing degree at a totally different Uni?
Have you contacted any of them about this possibility?

No I didn’t finish the full year. I just want to start from year 1 elsewhere

You will still need to list your previous Uni in the education section, and to use someone at your previous Uni for a reference. If there were personal reasons that led to you leaving that Uni, your referee needs to mention this. Any other Uni may also ask for your grade transcript.
