That is a hard one. Because you have to be very lucky to find someone before kissing a few frogs first. You can have ideals about a relationship and its values. Important things like honesty, treated with respect etc, and then you have things like same sense of humour, likes and dislikes, having that private time so your not with each other 24-7, travel or not to travel, saver or a spender plus lots of other things.
Join dating sites, dont bother joining ones that are just interested in hook ups.
And, if you do meet someone you like, then take the time to get to know them. If you do rush in, you might find later on they could have things that give you the ick, so take your time.
Or be in situations where you can make friends. As sometimes that can be a good start to a relationship.
