You would need to contact SAAS to clarify. Residence conditions are stated on the SAAS website:

There are other options. Being resident in England, you would normally apply to SFE for student finance - for both tuition fee and maintenance loans. In addition, if you study nursing at a uni in England, you would be able to apply to the NHS Learning Support Fund for the annual training grant of £5k per year plus other benefits.

If you apply for nursing at a uni in Wales, you could opt to take the NHS Wales bursary where your tuition fees are paid by NHS Wales in return for a commitment to work in Wales for two years following graduation. If you opted for this, you would also get a small grant (£1,000) plus a means tested element to help with living costs, and you would apply to SFE for a reduced maintenance loan. For most students who normally live in England, the Welsh bursary doesn't make financial sense as they would struggle to live off the reduced maintenance loan and grant. Instead, many apply to SFE instead for a tuition fee and maintenance loan.

I agree with what narmaw has said in response in reply 1 .

It's use to be that you need to be a resident in Scotland for three years or more before you qualified for NHS Scotland funding. The rules are very clear about studying in Scotland to qualify for free university fees and access to NHS Scotland bursary of £10,000 per year which you have to apply for every year yourself as not automatically given to you every year. If you are trying to get free university fees by coming to Scotland instead of the English arrangement then you'll perhaps not get it so it's best for you to discuss it with SAAS.

You are able to apply for nursing degree in Scotland as a English resident as long as SFE provide you with the necessary funding as it's similar situation for Scottish residents going to a English university for nursing they need to get the funding approved by SAAS for the duration of the coursework.

I would definitely contact SAAS regarding this matter as they will be the best people to discuss with you what you can do or not do.

Keep us posted on what they say about it 🙂 🙂 🙂.
