KCL/QMUL dentistry

I really want to study dentistry at KCL or QMUL (as I can't afford to move out) and I am elegible for the Enhanced Support Dentistry Programme BDS and I need AAB but I doubt I will even get a AAB - does anyone know if KCL or QMUL will accept a level resits for this programme. Or any foundation years I could apply for to get into dentistry. Also my GCSE grades are pretty decent I think, I achieved 987766666. Another route I was considering thinking was studying biomedical science first and then dentistry but it'll be a total of like 7 years of university and I don't know if it'll be worth it, could someone help me.

Hi KCL accepts resits, but non resit applications are more competitive. QMUL only accepts resits with extenuating circumstances.

I’m sorry to be harsh but I don’t think your GCSE grades are strong enough, KCL place a fairly heavy waiting on GCSE’s and most of your competition will have straight 9s. Not entirely sure about QMUL but again, your competition will most likely have much stronger grades. There’s also no point applying to either if ur predicted grades aren’t A*AA minimum because you will be rejected almost automatically.

Even if i’m elegible for a contextual offer or apply for the EDSP?

yeah. qmul will only reduce ur a*aa requirement to aaa. that’s only after the interview though, you still need a*aa minimum to apply.

kings esdp you need AAB both predicted and achieved and that’s the lowest they will offer you. GCSE grades still need to be competitive, which unfortunately yours aren’t.

Only applying to QMUL and kings esdp is very risky, with QMUL only having 60ish spaces and kings esdp having 10-20

hi for kcl they take top 8 gcses as far as i know, and they count grade 8 and 9 the same so you’d get nearly full marks for the gcses section. and in general i think your grades as a whole are quite strong so it’s fine for qmul too. so dw. ucat is most important thing by far

Thank you!! What ucat score should I am for? Hoe long should i revise for it? And do you think for the UCAS 5th choice its worth it applying for imperial med if you have the stats?

hey so going by last years grading system, aim for the equivalent of 2900+ to be on safe side. ppl recommend 4-8 weeks of revision, but i’ve heard that the most important thing is how consistent you are rather than how many weeks you do. like if you try to do a couple hours everyday in however long you’ve got left, you should be fine. i’m assuming you’ll be using a dental personal statement, and idk if imperial med reads personal statement or not so it could be risky to apply there as a fifth choice if they do read personal statement. maybe ask some people or call the uni to check. i’ll pm you w some resources i found x

btw in your og post, i think you asked abt whether these unis accept a level resits. qmul doesn’t unless you have extenuating circumstances, and kcl does accept them but they prefer ppl who got the grades the first time round so you’d be at a slight disadvantage but tbh if your ucat is rly good then it shouldn’t matter too much i think?
