how to get extra time

alr so i wont try and lie but im tryna find a way to get extra time in exams. does anybody know some easy ways? ive looked into injuries, would that be pretty simple? just go to a doctor and say it hurts then get a note ? or would a family member dying be easier? anything helps thanks

Do you mean extra time to actually complete the exam, or more days to revise? If you don't complete the exam when everyone else does, you will have to do it during the resits, as people coudl tell you what is on the paper. Purposely trying to injure yourself would be stupid and could go wrong, and family deaths for exams generally require a death certificate.

To get extra time in the exams, moderations have to be put forward well before now with a provable issue, such as a diagnosed SEN.

What exams are you sitting?

Hi,

Extra time is for people with dyslexia, Autism, ADHD and other learning difficulties. You would also have to do a special test year leader, senco leader or head teacher. family passing would come under special recognition and injury definitely wouldn't work as doctors know when someone is faking.

I'm honestly not sure, are you doing GCSE's. I know that all the children who are allocated extra time have to have proof of their special need - say dyspraxia or ADHD in a letter from a medical professional and they have to be submitted to the exam board well in advance of the actual exams.

You would have to go to your doctors asap if your exams have already started (i think they have for GCSEs), and get a letter, but they normally have a week or so turn around time. Failing that, all you can do is ask your parents to speak to the school/college to see if they can allocate any emergency measures or a scribe to write for you (although I doubt the scribe would be allowed).

I got extra time by applying in my college, as my family is foreign I claimed that English is my second language, I claimed that I am a slow reader and slow writer and I also claimed that I have awful exam stress and blabbed on about extra time. I did a test the next week which compromised for spelling and comprehension at like year 6 level so it looks hella easy but you gotta fail it and make sure you spell the words wrong e.g mosquito - moskito. It's really simple to get extra time.

i don’t know if you’ve done them or you’re in year 11 or what now, but i’ve been applying and i have OCD and a potential chronic tiredness condition, and it’s not easy

apparently, extra time as in the 25% i assume you’re aiming for is only for those with a learning difficulty, autism and adhd aren’t learning difficulties but they fall under that umbrella so those two or dyslexia or dysgraphia award you extra time.

in regards to things like a quiet room and rest breaks, imo they’re really easy to get, but that’s mainly because rest breaks and quiet rooms are more so awarded for mental health conditions instead of extra time.

i’d say ask the school to put you in for a test and just fail it on purpose, or get a diagnosis for autism which isn’t the most difficult from what i’ve heard
