Do empaths often have less satisfactory state of mental health than others

because many of them tend to prioritise the feelings of others over theirs? I don't see anything wrong with this but rather believe that it is being made out to be a "problem" because too many folks lack empathy.

I am not entirely sure for the general population, but as someone that has been called very empathetic and have on many times put others before myself I can say that for me, it can be difficult. If you make someone else’s problem your own problem, and tend to do it for a lot of people, it can get rather overwhelming and start to negatively affect your wellbeing.
Sorry for the waffle, but that’s my take.

Ive found that its fine to help other people with their problems as long as they dont become vampires and consistantly going over and over and over again with the same issue which has been unresolved and they cant be bothered to take on the advice. its at this point i switch off lol. helping out can be great but not at the expense of you own mental health.

It’s all about finding a balance between helping others and helping yourself

What if this is caused by their mental health condition

Compared to what? Most of the killers I've known of don't have much known empathy at all and their mental health was...probably not great.

Being an empath does not necessarily cause mental health issues. If you get too invested too much in peoples lives though it can consume you. Especially if they try to take advantage of your good nature. You just got to know when its enough. like I could be on TSR now, for an hour and its enough. Or ill just pop on for 5 minutes, and its enough. I have the control. If I do give advice on any forum and they private message, I wont be chatting them them for two weeks straight trying to help when they wont take my advice and just keep going on and on about their problems and not listen to what I have to say. Harsh as it sounds, I do have to think about myself. Same goes for real life. If its a mate, then have a bit of distance, as you cannot take on their problems as your own.
