Film BA

I'm thinking about studying film at uni in 2025 but am struggling to find out which courses are actually good?

I know there's a big debate about whether a film degree is even worth it, but assuming for now that it is, where is the best place to study? Is a film course at a uni or a film school better? (bearing in mind I cannot afford the film schools that charge more than £9,250 a year such as London Film Academy etc).

Looking, preferably, at somewhere in/near southwest of England with a mostly practical course and good everything.

Any advice would be much appreciated!

(also,, is a straight up film course or a film and tv course better? Or does it purely depend on what one wants to do?)

If you want to work in film then a CILECT member film school is your best option.

In the SW that means AUB, Falmouth (and more recently BU but their equipment and funding is not what I would expect - final year films don’t fundraise/have budgets to pay actors for example)

Or you could cross the Bristol Channel and go with South Wales in Cardiff
