'overall the writer uses language to describe the character' is unnecessary and almost feels like a tacky ending. I'm sure your examiner knows that the writer is using language. It is fine to use it once to remind the examiner but not twice.

Instead of saying the word indicates, the adjective/verb/adverb indicates would be better and more precise
•
instead of the phrase shows, the personification/metaphor of... shows
•
Expand more on 'how' this is achieved
•
e.g) The word “polished” indicates how the woman was speaking smoothly and confidently because polished has connotations of...
