I never referred to the extract at all in one of my questions and instead spoke and wrote about the play as a whole and wrote 4 paragraphs. Will my marks be capped

In your 4 paragraphs, did you talk about why the author is doing this, context, embedded quotes, how reader feels, the extent of the question , Good SPaG and terminology language form structure used to create meanings?

You might lose 4 marks as minimum and 6 marks as maximum. So you can stil get 24, 25, 26/30 which is grade 8

I talked about context, linked it to the theme and to the audience of the play at the time, embedded quotes, how the reader would feel and explained the question pretty well i'd say. Some of my own quotes were similar to the extract such as the extract had said "Fogged city moon" and "Trod the child down and passed on regardless of her screams" and my quotes were "The fog rolled over the city" and "Trampled calmy over the childs body, leaving her screaming" I have heard if the quotes have some similarities they may let me off but other then that id say my paragraphs explained the question pretty well and matched my thesis statement too.

focus on paper 2, one thing about paper 2 is that you get no extract to help you so it's based on knowledge of the whole text. But, you get an option between 2 questions and you only have to answer 1 of them for your modern text :smile:

. Focus on unseen poetry and your 15 poem anthology too, try making comparisons with your poems in preparation, and have a plan for what you're going to write for each of the 15 poems and what comparison is best for each one.

But I googled it and im hearing something about being capped at level 2?

You'll get a very good mark then . B/w 24-26 out of 30

I've heard have 4 paragraphs always: 2 paragraphs on extract and 2 on the whole play for 30/30

BUT if running out of time, I've heard 1 paragraph on extract and 2 on whole play is like 26/30

You are definitely in Level 5 maybe the lowest you could get is 21/30 but I doubt it as you said your paragraphs are good. AO1 is the only AO which assessed balanced argument. So you might get 6/12 on that. But the other 6 marks would be for extract. I predict you'll get 24/25.

Remember, paper 2 can change the game now so pls forget about this paper and focus on the others by starting to revise right now. What's done is done, you can't change the past, thinking about it will only make you more stressed, move on & focus on the other papers. Believe in yourself, I'm sure you tried your best under timed conditions and will get a fantastic grade!

There's no such thing as "being capped" for GCSE AQA Eng Lit. The examiners assign a level, then a rank within that level to arrive at a grade. If you did everything needed to get into that level, it seriously doesn't matter if you explicitly included a section "In the extract" or not.
