Help losing weight? 14F

For context, I'm 5'0 and in the weight range of 109-115 lbs because my weight fluctuates, but it's always in that range. I don't have access to a scale right now but my estimate weight I'm at currently is *111 lbs* The highest weight I've ever been was 120 lbs. I'm trying to lose weight because I have belly fat and I also want skinnier arms and legs overall. I don't want to tone up, just lose weight which is different.

My goal is 100 pounds currently. I used to starve myself but I decided I wanted to lose weight in a healthier way because of the side effects of starving myself. That's probably the only reason I don't do it because I don't want hair loss or slower metabolism. My BMR is 1,653 kcal/day and I want to cut 500 cal so that would put me at 1,153 calories a day.

I'm having trouble knowing what to eat that is low in calories and also keeps me full for a while. I'm wondering if someone could recommend foods that are like this but also delicious in taste (I'm kind of picky but I will consider every response). Or maybe a diet that I could eat every day ^_^ I'm also planning on exercising 30 mins daily to help with my weight loss.

I think the only problem I'd have with this is discipline. I know I'm going to be craving sweet stuff, which will be a problem. As soon as I know I'm not supposed to be eating junk food it makes me want it more. For this reason, I will probably have one cheat day. Self-discipline is hard, so if you could be kind and give me advice on that as well it would be greatly appreciated! :3

I will keep everyone updated on my weight loss journey! <3
Given that you've already had issues with food, and with what you are suggesting/asking on here, you need professional advice; go and see yor GP.

Your weight is fine and at 14 you are still growing, so you don't need to change anything! You need the nutrition and calories. If you cut back AND exercise you will put yourself below 1153 calories a day for your body's normal routine and that's too little.

Anyway, you can't spot-reduce fat, so losing weight may make no difference to your belly, arms or legs.

What's a GP?
Also I've seen a lot of people say that about spot-reducing fat. I'm not trying to spot reduce fat I'm trying to lose weight everywhere

GP = General Practioner: the doctor at the surgery where you are registered.

You can lose weight, but you can't lose it everywhere. You might not got rid of belly fat or get skinnier arms or legs, and if that's what you are trying to achieve it's not the right way to go about it.

idk if you’re in the uk but a gp is a general practitioner, so your family doctor if you’re in the us. best of luck to u babes, just know that you absolutely do not NEED to lose weight. you are perfect the way u are and i know that seems repetitive and really hard to accept/digest but trust me you are loved no matter if you are 100 or 150 pounds xx

you are fourteen, PLEASE wait until you are older before dieting. dieting culture is pretty toxic imo. you are still young, wait until your body is finished growing and maturing at least 🙏
'starving yourself' is incredibly unhealthy, you could stunt your growth, and you seem to have an almost obsession with weight and stuff- DO! NOT! WORRY! at that age you don't need to worry about weight- i put on some weight at that age too, without meaning too, along with the thigh/hip/chest weight, and i lost it as i grew older (like 15ish) naturally, without dieting. it's part of growing up, as a woman and girl, your weight will fluctuate. and it's normal. i was a size 12, then 14, then 12 again. it's completely normal.
you're still growing at that age anyway, you need food.

and belly fat is normal. pretty sure everybody has belly fat. i do. like, if you want cake? eat it. yolo and all that, and ur beautiful the way you are, i promise you 💖
(also do ur parents know about this dieting stuff?)

Don't deliberately choose low calorie food as it can acc have a negative effect. Also, from what I've read and learnt, try to have a positive relationship with food - don't eat foods that you know you wont enjoy at all because then you'll start to rely on the foods that are bad for you. Obviously try to cut back on sugars and fats but eating should be enjoying and so you should eat something thats tasty and filling but not unhealthy. Also, listen to your body it deserves love too. If you feel like a you really want a chocolate bar, instead of pushing it away and eating other things just to end up eating the chocolate bar, you should just eat the chocolate bar. That being said, don't cave in to cravings too much and if possible avoid buying unhealthy food.
As for food, try cuisine from around the word, like one day try and make rice and chicken curry, another day soup, another day etc. Try and avoid fast food as they have a lot of fat.
Remember, weight is different from fat and BMI is a bad indicator of representing that. What's more important is that you love yourself, your body and you have a good relationship with food. Love yourself the way you are xxxx.

Is she the one that put the idea in your head that you’re overweight? Because you don’t seem (that) overweight to me.

No she hasn't but she's fine with me dieting. She didn't want me to starve myself though and got upset at me when she found out.

I can understand why she’s upset.

Please consider before dieting! I did a calorie counting diet at 13 and became obsessed with it to an unhealthy extent, after a year of calorie counting and having lost 2 stone I began to eat normal amounts of food again, but since my metabolism had been affected by my dieting during teenage years, I put on all the weight again and more. This caused me to fall into pattens of anorexia and bingeing and had major depressive episodes frequently. I am now 17 and still struggling with my eating, all because I wouldn't allow myself to eat healthy during my teen years because I wanted to be as thin as the people I saw around me. You might think that calorie counting will help, but ultimately it is not a sustainable nor healthy option, and I would thoroughly encourage you to consider your nutrition and general fitness rather than restricted calories.

Based on the figures you have given, your BMI is in the healthy range, and although BMI is not at all the most accurate measurement, I would please discourage you from dieting, as someone who has been through it myself and can confidently say that it ruined a lot of my teen years.

As people have said, perhaps consider seeing a doctor or other health professional, who may be able to help you in a more sustainable and healthier way 🫶

I am finding the slimming world diet really good. It basically works by giving a list of tons of foods which are free, and you can eat as much of them as you want, and everything else has a syns number based on how bad it is. you set how many syns you can have a day, so you don't feel like you are depriving yourself of anything.
