What are the requirements for direct entry to Year 2?

Let's say you already completed a year of one language degree at SOAS and want to do a different language instead, can you transfer those credits and join at Year 2 if your knowledge of the new language is already at Year 2 level?

Hiya,

The best thing to do would be to submit a degree transfer request through SID (Student Information Desk), it may also be worth visiting SOAS’ Student Hub if you’re around campus to enquire about degree transfers.

Additionally, it’d be worth getting in touch with the convenor of the course you’re on, and the convenor of the course that you want to switch onto. You may be required to be tested on your level of the language that you want to switch onto (something that first year students have to do when joining SOAS if they want to be streamlined into a higher level class).

All the best & don’t hesitate to get back in touch if you have any more questions!
