Gsce maths

Unfortunately in my yr 10 mocks for maths I got a grade 5, how can I boost my grade to a 8/9? I feel so dumb compared to my class mates and I want to rise to the top and beat their ego! They flaunt their grades and dismiss/ laugh at people who got lower grades including me

Practice and keep practising. Genuinely it is the most useful thing you can do for maths - the more you go over the content, the easier it becomes. Also, during exams, don't rush. Take your time with each question - you can get a 7 just from getting the first half of the paper correct. If you take it slowly, you're much less likely to make silly mistakes. Hope this helps!

As someone who has just done mocks, i would say prioritise weakness. revising something u feel confident in gives you a false sense of understanding- Good at pythagoras? dont spend 2 hours on it, if your bad at circle theorms, spend the 2 hours on that.

It may take some time but it's not too late to turn it around!
1) identify your weak spots and grill questions in that area
If you don't understand then ask a teacher or you could watch Eddie Wu on YouTube
2) Use mocks and in class assessments to your own advantage, like a final check for topics to make sure you have understood them or not.
3) Once you've done all of that, it's all about past paper questions. There are so may out there (I recommend physics and maths tutor) and if you get stuck get help.
Hope this helps! And don't let those people get to you, everyone learns at different speeds.
