edie vs. the deadline: an ironically late y12 gyg

i am so bad with procrastination and i need this to give myself accountability for doing my homework!!

currently doing french, eng lit and lang (seperate a levels), and philosophy (planning to drop philosophy)
predicted a*a*a*a but need to get on top of deadlines!
ideal uni course is french and linguistics and oxford, also looking at manchester, edinburgh, lancaster and southampton.
contextual information: i have adhd so organisation is something i really want to get on top of. on a practical level it means i get extra time and a word processor in exams and do them in a separate room.
excited to start my gyg journey!

started: 14th may 2024
-- quick and easy things to tick off --
email work experience
theory test practice
read ahead in french book
read ahead in eng lit book
-- current projects --
english lit coursework (goal: at least an hour a day)
french extended reading (5 pages a day)
french speaking revision (stats) for a test on the 28th of may
any homework

-- future projects --
summer exams revision (starting half term)

my plan for tomorrow!
-- morning: --
collect 3 statistics on cinema in france and email them to my teacher
make sure the research homework is finished (form time)
-- free period: --
do my english language timed essay (45 minutes) then spend 15 minutes on french stats revision.
-- on the bus home: --
read 10 pages of l'etranger
theory practice AFTER the 10 pages so i don't get distracted
then dutch duolingo
-- after school: --
LOCK IN!
highlight the transcendentalism sheet for english lit
an hour on coursework

DEPENDING ON HOW MUCH HOMEWORK I HAVE: i can do eng lit work in thursday's free or after school.
will come back tomorrow to let you know how things are going and what my timetable for thursday is!

morning bus
done my statistics! got around 20 minutes left on this journey so i’m going to eat my breakfast then do the research in registration
registration
i was supposed to go early to do my work, but ended up talking to my friends in the sixth form centre… lol. still managed to complete it!! slightly rushed short notes about influential figures in french cinema but i think it should suffice
-- free period --
ermmm i did my essay but i forgot that i needed my 25% extra time lol so it ended up taking up the entire free period, around 57? minutes. am going to do the transcendentalism highlighting this lunch and move my french speaking revision into my homework period. would've liked to finish my essay earlier (i have cramp in my hand from typing now) and should have annotated in advance + for structure i used a structure that my class discussed on snap instead of working it out myself, ideally i wouldn't have done this so last minute (due next period).
homework set today (and yesterday):
french work (she hasn't put it online yet) due next week
philosophy reading of extract from the meditations due on friday
english language poster group work due monday
(edited 10 months ago)
ermm i did not finish my highlighting in lunch (i hate transcendentalism it's 19th century waffle i need a decoder) but i have a surprise free bc my philo teacher sent us off to revise! have no idea how to Actually revise philosophy,,, if my teacher would let me drop before summer exams i'd be gone from there lol. gonna try do my transcendentalism and maybe some french? or some coursework. can feel my adhd meds wearing off i fear...
ALSO i'm gonna start doing posts daily rather than every point on the list (giving myself a to do list for the next day and then doing a summary at the end of the day) so i don't distract myself as much
welcome to gyg ! im also doing French, but im in y13
your grades are amazing, can't wait to follow your journey !

I love the year 13 topics, overall I'd say the transition between y12 and 13 is more forgiving than between y11 and 12

Hey good luck!!! Your grades are amazing 😄 and your plans for what you're going to do seem really sensible (even if you struggle to stick to them - I feel that)

omg sounds like you are already pretty on top of it since your predicted grades are so high !!
15/5/24
did:
everything mentioned above
10 pages of l'etranger -- have now finished ch 1!
philosophy reading - descartes was a yapper
transcendentalism highlighting in my free
theory practice (hazard perception is so Weird i never know where my mistakes were)
45 minutes of coursework... i feel like i'm less productive working on coursework at home i'm going to try and do it in frees when possible
duolingo

didn't do:
enough coursework!!! my beloathed...
french revision - i need to PLAN how i'm actually revising!! going to find ten key stats for music and make flashcards on quizlet tomorrow.
plan for tomorrow (16th of may 2024)
duolingo and theory and eat on bus in the morning (get it out of the way)
don't have registration because of a meeting about special access arrangements
free (first period)
15 minutes french -- find ten key stats for music and make flashcards on quizlet.
15 minutes on the french homework - do the sheet that she put up (will print this evening)
half an hour of coursework.
break -- maybe a bit of flashcard revision for quizlet? get it in there!! + chill
lunch -- have french speaking second half (not the exam) so chill first half and eat lol
bus home - ten pages l'etranger plus write in notes what i think so far
after school -- another half hour on the coursework. (boooooo) half an hour on the eng lang poster, do the listening part of the french homework.

work on (in general):
specifics when i'm planning what i'm doing, particularly with revising otherwise i just blank and freeze lol
