Student Finance for 5 years?

Good evening!

I'm an undergrad student doing a Bachelors degree with a year in industry currently and I'm considering whether to extend my degree to a 5 year degree and also do a masters as well.

I'm not sure if this is true, so I'll just ask on here first.

Is there a cap on how many years you can get funding from Student Finance? I've heard from some people you can only get funding for 4 years, so I wanted to just confirm/deny this as I was considering studying for 5 years.

If it is true, and I just pay my tuition fees for my placement year out of pocket ( which was at most ~£1 400) would there be any changes/ difficulties in getting funding for my 5th year of education? (masters)

Thank you

Hi there,

What course are you studying? Have you started it?

Thanks, Ross
Hello,

I'm currently studying a 4 year course (BSc with year in industry) and I started in Sept 2022

Thanks

Hi there,

Thanks, this is fine - there's no cap as such for student finance.

So, if you want to extend your course to include the Masters then this should be okay.

We'd recommend asking your university to send us a Change of Circumstances telling us about this change, so we can tell you for sure.

Thanks, Graeme
