Dissertation or Exams? :0

Out of the two unis Im gonna firm and insure, one has a dissertation (Global Development at queen Mary’s) and the other doesn’t (econ at SOAS). Which is better?? Is the dissertation gonna kill me or exams better to get it over with? I think both would stress me out equally so 🕺

Also if anyone does these courses/ has advice on what I should pick in terms of Uni and the subject, any help would be appreciated!!

Hi there 🙂

Congratulations on both of your offers! I think dissertation vs. exams really depends on the type of person that you are. For me personally, exams have always stressed me out more and I seem to perform poorly under that mounting pressure. However, I find that I can chip away at essay writing day-by-day. Your supervisor will help you so much too, if you utilise the sessions that they offer you. I know that it can feel quite overwhelming thinking about a 10,000 word essay looming above you, but you somehow get it done and look back and think, wow I did it haha.

I think the best way for anyone would be a mixture of the two, as too many exams will probably be quite nerve-wracking too.

All the best in your decision-making process!
