What’s stopping us from using the earth’s core heat to create electrical energy?e

As per the title, why don’t we dig down deep enough until we reach the mantle or whatnot, and then convert that heat into electrical energy. Everyone’s always looking out of the Earth but I haven’t heard of anyone looking into the Earth. It’s basically infinite as well considering that the heat is maintained by the pressure of the Earth itself. I don’t mean to sound dumb or anything but what’s the cons to this method?
This is actually what we do do in a few limited places, Iceland being one of the big ones. It's essentially what geothermal energy is. Unfortunately, for many places it's just not feasible or economical due to the depth.
