Not meeting my conditional offer

Hi, does anyone know what Swansea uni is like if you don’t meet your conditional offer? Are they lenient at all?

No uni is "lenient". They simply look at how places they have left once they've confirmed the place of firm offer-holders who've met their offer conditions and insurance offer-holders who weren't accepted by their firm, but who met Swansea's conditions.

If there are any spaces left, they'll look to any "near miss" candidates.

Thank you for this information. I am a conditional offer holder for Swansea University! Just curious as to what will happen if I don’t meet my offer!

Unfortunately, nobody (not even the university itself) knows what will happen - as nobody knows how many offer-holders will meet their offer conditions. Hence nobody knows how many places (if any) might be available for "near miss" candidates.

What course is this for?

If you look-up Nursing (Adult) at Swansea on The Uni Guide (see this page), you'll see that although they ask for BBB, the grades achieved by current students tend to be BBC.

This suggests that they have (in the past) confirmed the place of some "near miss" candidates. Either that or their standard offer used to be BBC.

Hi @DataVenia, hope you're doing well. Universities can allow discretion in their decision making for confirming places after results are known and offer terms aren't met, unless there are UKVI compulsory requirements related to Visas for international applicants.

Yes, available places will be an important factor, and certain courses and institutions will be more competitive than others, but applicants will often be placed at their Firm or Insurance choice even if they didn't quite get the grades needed.

At Swansea, we will be as flexible as possible on Results Day. Every year, Universities receive results before applicants do (under embargo) - to prepare and finalise all decisions on applications before notifying applicants on results day. UCAS has some useful guidance on what happens here https://www.ucas.com/undergraduate/clearing-and-results-day/results-day.

Essentially, if you're worried about missing the grades in your offer, please get in touch with us and we can chat through the process with you, as well as in some cases reviewing the offer itself.

Best wishes, Gethin (Future Students Team).

Hiya - I would recommend emailing the Faculty team directly at [email protected].

Include your Student Number and a brief summary, then a team member will contact you to discuss further.

Many thanks, Gethin.
