To teach in a state secondary school you need to have a PGCE/postgraduate teaching qualification. These courses all require a first degree, even Teach First.

Every teacher I know has at least one degree with many holding Masters degrees.

Some independent schools may offer artist in residence roles with some teaching for those with a specific skills (newly graduated fashion designer or professional sculptor with 30 years experience).

Teaching is the one place where your qualifications are scrutinised with every job, whether you are an NQT or a headteacher with 40 years of experience. We're talking level, subject and grades with certificates as proof.

However, for a definite answer, contact the PGCE provider in which you are interested and they will tell you their entry requirements.
