wld earbuds help? (not electronic ones, the type theyt give out on planes:wink: i think u have to be approved for it, but if the schl are backing u... if that wld help u shld spk to the senco as soon as u can to see if u cld qualify for future exams... also idk if u cld qualify for extra time but that's definitely something worth asking about, and even if ur not diagnosed, u might be able to get it if the school push for u, or u can try for rest-breaks if those wld help, or typing... there's things that u cld do to help, i think abt getting distracted, if u can try for the earbuds that wld definitely help, just make sure u get good ones, it just takes away the edge on the noise so its not so sharp/stark in ur ear....

i have adhd btw, so i am speaking from experience...
see if there are any strategies that help u get into hyperfocus mode... cos once ur in it ur in it, but if ur not in it then its rly hard, (wow that was a lot of the same words in one sentence)so see what helps u get into the zone.
sometimes if everything is too distracting what ill do is play thru a song i know rly well in my head... ill hear everything, the words, the tone of voice, the background instruments and i'll make myself focus on it intensly which just kinda gets my brain into concentrating mode and tunes out the rest of the world so i can then focus on my exam.
but yeh u have to know urself and what helps u and motivates u... ik im in the same yr as u, but ive been diagnosed since yr 9, so ive had time to work with it and find things that motivate me (of course im procrastinating rn because im in denial that maths is tomorrow and i have studied, but im not taking it for a level so thats my justification im a hypocrite ik) BUT, yeh, lmk if u want any tips or stuff thats more specific

You can get cardboard thingies, like dividers, and you put them around your paper so only you can see it and you actually have to poke your head around to get distracted so no amble distractions. They are called classroom privacy shields. Also, earbuds or plugs are really really helpful at blocking everything.

Cheap - Quies Natural Wax, it blocks out most things
Expensive - Loop earbuds - get the 18dB to 27dB noise reduction rating as the lower one is not quite enough I have found. They are reusable and a good investment, even though they are a bit expensive.

mb u cld adjust the way u sit or ik this sounds weird but have ur hair in ur eyes so that it obscures ur vision when u look up, or sit in a way that makes it harder to look up at the invigilators or thats rly comfortable(if thats possible in a gcse) so u dont want to move physically... sometimes channelling the inner laziness comes in useful, like tell urself, i cant be bothered to look up, its so much effort, im rly comfotable, im gonna have to stop writing, im gonna get distracted, its just not worth it. again this is what i find helpful, u might be different but yeh, hope i cld help.... good luck

hi
im trying to figure out (basically just googling) if i can be allowed/become approved to type in all or at least most of my gcses. i just have adhd tho nothing else so im not sure if i qualify for typing rather than writing. i already have extra time (no rest breaks - never really asked/looked into that). i really really really would find it soo much easier to type but i was just wondering if you know if having just adhd (nothing else like dyslexia and stuff) would be enough to ask to type and be approved for this?
rlly random sry but if u see this & u know i would really appreciate it 💗💗

hey, so I'm adhd, nothing else and I'm actually going to apply to type for my a levels next year (I'm taking 3 essay subjects) and tbh i was offered to type for GCSEs, so I guess talk to ur SENCO or whoever applies for that. it might be helpful to go to teachers and they can vouch for u/help u present ur case.
tbh i dont see why u wldnt have a solid chance if you're already qualified for extra time.
idk if there's any evidence u cld present that u need to type - stuff like that u can talk to the school abt (whoever manages that in ur schl).
but it's definitely worth it to try apply whatever happens.
hope that helps 🙂 lmk if u need any other tips or anything
