Accepting UCAS offers for uni

Im planning to study pharmacology this year at uni but im not sure which offers to accept. Ive received an unconditional for Glasgow caledonian and two conditionals for Glasgow and Strathclyde Uni. I need an A in biology for Glasgow and a B in biology for Strathclyde. I want to put Glasgow as my firm choice but don't know about my insurance. Putting Caledonian would mean i had a guaranteed place at uni however there is no option for masters and i would pick strathclyde over caledonian. Putting strathclyde is more risky as i could not receive the grades but i would prefer this uni than caledonian. Any help would be appreciated.

First of all congrats on the offers, you should really be proud of yourself 🥳. Secondly, do you think that you will meet the offers that the uni offered. My advice to you would be that if you think that you will meet the offers then pick between strath and Glasgow but if you feel as though you won’t meet them then pick cali. This would be my advice but at the end of the day you will be the one who is studying at these unis not me so you’re the one who should make the decision.
Hope this helps 🤪

Thank you. I had my exam today but it could go either way. I don't have a lot of confidence in myself as in previous years i've expected low grades and have been proved wrong. Although, last year throughout the whole year for a subject i was getting 80 to 90% on tests and prelims but ended up getting a B.

Don’t doubt yourself, I say this to my friends too, confidence is key. I’m guessing you had biology today. How was it! I had my higher human biology exam and I’m having mixed feelings about it…
I can understand how ur feeling about uni tho I also got an offer from cali to study pharmacology but that’s my backup I actually want to study optometry.

Don't go to Cally. Cally is good only for very niche subjects like opthalmology that don't have an alternative uni. I was warned by my college when I did my HND employers will judge you based on your uni and I've seen this for myself in my past work. It's not fair, but yes work does judge you based on your uni.

I'd say go to Glasgow and put Strathclyde as backup. I love Glasgow uni. It has much better student societies and fresher's than Strathclyde (but Strath is closer to the city centre which is an advantage). However Glasgow is tougher - but the quality of education I've had in biology has always been excellent, whereas my pals who went to Strathclyde had a good time but got very mixed lecturers. I've never had a bad lecturer at Glasgow uni. Ones that I needed to ask questions yes, but not ones who actually were bad. My Strathclyde pals did get bad lecturers.

Strathclyde has cheaper accommodation and good student societies (not as good as Glasgow but they're still good). Strathclyde has a better gym and sports facilities, open 24 hours! Strathclyde accomodation is directly on campus and it's cheaper than Glasgow uni.
Strathclyde many students commute locally which can make finding friends hard in some courses (sorry can't advise further)
The school of pharmacy academically in Strathclyde has very good reputation and good industry links. Glasgow Cally has neither.

Glasgow has better teaching, reputation and societies. If you're worried about the uni being posh, go hang out in Queen Margaret Union. We're a friendly bunch and very down to earth. If you look for your people you will find them.

Thank you for your help. I agree with Cally having not as good a reputation as strathclyde and glasgow as most people i know going to cally is because its their only option. I've decided to put Glasgow as my top choice and Strathclyde as my insurance choice. Fingers crossed i can get the A in Biology to go to Glasgow 🤞🤞
