International Student looking for advice/guidance

Hello!
I am a future Physiotherapy MSc student at UCLan this fall 2024 and I need some guidance/advice for accommodations, the international moving process, and general tips for international students.

I was wondering if there will be future events hosted by a representative online where I can ask questions and receive a general overview of what to expect.

Thank you
Hello,

My name is Haya and I am an international student at UCLan.

Congratulations on getting accepted, I am sure you will have a great experience.

For accommodation: you can either book a room on campus (where bills are covered) or you can try to find private accommodation (dorms or apartments) next to campus. As a full time student you are exempt from council tax so it is important to request the letter from uni if you require it. If bills are not included you need to register with the relevant companies.
Since your degree is one year long, I would recommend living in dorms/ private student dorms like (Friargate accommodation/Tramshed) to meet people and make friends.

International travel: I would recommend a flight that arrives in Manchester Airport as it is one hour away from Preston and there are trains/ taxis that can drop you off. When you arrive, I would recommend visiting the university, registering for your course, and registering with a GP (general practice). The university has a medical centre where you can see a doctor/ nurse if needed.

The university also has a scheme called Ask a student where you can speak to people on your course, this is the link https://www.uclan.ac.uk/study/ask-a-student.

Let me know if you have any other questions.

Best of luck,
Haya
