First ucat mock pls help

I’ve been using medentry since April doing proper practice not for the entire month but mostly up until now this is my first mock I’ve ever done bc I’ve been told to do mocks as soon as possible

This is a ucat diagnostic mock on medentry and I don’t know what I should do to reflect off this score of 2680
Qr is 750
Ar is 680
Vr is 600
Dm is 650
Band two 48.5/69

How can I improve bc I want to sit in August for a 3000 score
I’m a bit scared that the score would go down quickly so how can I stop this

Is medentry accurate in predicting scores bc I think this is highly inflated

Hi there, I sat the UCAT in the summer and got 3090 overall (VR 700, DM 700, QR 800 and AR 890) and band 1 sjt. It's incredible that you've started ucat prep so early, most people honestly don't do that much until the summer. I found the ucat very stressful - not something that came naturally to me and like you I worried about score fluctuations on websites etc. However I will say I used meddentry a lot a month before my exam and for me personally (of course can't speak for others) it was pretty accurate to my score on the day and I felt reflected the ucat a bit better than medify (which I used a lot too). The diagnostic mock is shorter than the real thing if I remember right so I'm not entirely sure how accurate it'll be (sorry unhelpful lol). I would say do take all mocks with a pinch of salt, there were some I did a lot worse on than others, and instead focus on the bits you need to improve on from each. Practice is definitely key, if there are certain question types you find hard I'd recommend doing untimed q's for a bit before a full 2 hour mock. But honestly you're doing so so well, I hadn't even done a full mock in April as I thought it would knock my confidence and didn't feel ready then, but in late August when i took my UCAT it was okay! keep going and if you have any questions I will try and help!

Hi thank u sm for the response, did u find medentry was good at predicting ur actual scores? And how did you reflect on your mistakes because I’ve only done that for abstract reasoning where I’m copying down patterns. I keep making mistakes in VR DM so how can I stop doing those mistakes?

Do you have anywhere else I could contact you, thank u for ur response as well I appreciate it tons

Hey! Yeah snap chat or Instagram works for me if it does for you? My Instagram and snap are both molly.sellars04 🙂 and yes, I did find meddentry to be accurate, and my friend who got a similar score to me in their UCAT actually did better on the real thing than meddentry!

For verbal reasoning I think I got better by doing loads of untimed questions first where I learnt how to speed read effectively - looking for key words and not reading the whole passage (and skipping questions when necessary) then I used these techniques to get faster and do the sub section under timed conditions. It’s a skill to identify which long / confusing passages to skip and flag and which questions look easier (eg ones with dates as they are easy to find in the passage). This gets a lot easier in time!

For DM, I found for example I wasn’t great at Venn diagram questions as they are so weird to look at haha, again doing untimed questions for me was the best way until I could tackle each type of question. Also watching YouTube tutorials for tips for each subsection was very helpful, especially where the person does the questions live (I would do it too and then listen to their thought processes and check my answers).

Like you for AR I copied down patterns and then made a cheat sheet, I feel that’s the only way to go for that haha! Some people I know made mnemonics for patterns, I didn’t personally but it definitely can be helpful.

I hope that’s useful and feel free to ask anything else

thank you also ive messaged u on instagram, i am so worried at the moment as i got 2570 on mock exam 1 - i didnt know how harsh the scoring would be for this mock and ended up with 690 QR 670 AR 590 VR 620 Dm.. B3 (not too concerned with this part as i was really tired) i am really worried cos ive decreased in score drastically.. is this normal to get so low at this stage?
i scored higher but the scaling for scoring is so much more harsh for this mock..

Hello! I am so sorry for not being on here recently, a lot of exams and also I thought my last response posted but it didn’t (im really sorry). I can’t seem your DM on Instagram/ Snapchat (sorry) would you like to give me your username if you’re still interested in contact? I used the 2 hour tests on Meddentry and they were accurate to my score (although I ended up doing better on AR in the real thing because the patterns weren’t as complicated). When I say they were accurate I am referring to the exams where I felt like I was most energised and focused - it was very normal in practice to have dips where I suddenly felt demotivated and negative and my score greatly fell! You’re honestly doing amazingly! It is is so so so normal to get score fluctuations and this really stressed me out however remember on the day you won’t have been doing loads of prep just before and will be ‘fresh’ (!) for it - make sure you have regular breaks in your prep so you don’t get too tired and then worry you’re not improving - this is a feeling I know all too well and trust me, you will be getting better all the time. I know it’s easier said than done but try not to focus too much on each score. For example DM and VR were always my best and the other two my worst and in my actual exam they flipped lol - you will be absolutely fine in the real thing! Have you looked at any of the official mocks yet? What I would say is that QR is sooooo much harder on the official mocks than in the real thing (as was AR for me personally) so take them with a pinch of salt, I found meddentry much more representative overall (of course I can’t speak on the behalf of other test takers but yeah) 🙂 I hope you’re okay and managing to chill a bit if you’re on holiday now too. PS for the SJT I found Good Medical Practice a good read for what to base my answers on!
