hi i’m doing my german paper 2 soon, i need to write essays on a book and film, but i don’t know how many quotes to use? how many quotes would be enough ?

what exam board are you? because for aqa, we don’t actually need to use any quotes, just direct references to the text/film. but i would use a quote/reference per paragraph, using the PEEL structure.

oh really? i’m doing AQA and i have no knowledge of how im meant to answer questions really, i don’t have any lessons my school lets people do languages they alr know so i decided to pick it up just for extra ucas points.

so if i give like 2 quotes, explain them and explain the theme and intentions of the book / film it will be okay?

yes that should be fine, you can think of it being like a gcse english lit essay in german. half of the marks are for content, half for language including grammar.

omg i did think of it like gcse eng lit, except i was able remember like 20 quotes and got a 9 💀💀 hopefully 2-4 quotes will be fine for german

2-4 quotes is fine. Make sure you focus deeply on your grammar (cases are the key here). Your grammar can cost you marks so make sure you're staying on top of that. I did my German A Level (AQA) back in 2022 and my teacher always stressed me out on grammar and I can tell you he was 100% right in doing so.
