Hey so I’m not studying that currently plan to but to do IR🙂 I’m going into s6 and for my highers I took:Politics, History, Modern, English and maths (all at higher) then next year I’m taking AH history then higher geography, RME and PE ( wanted to do AH English and modern but weren’t running)

But I would 100% say English and then a maths or a science to show u can be more analytical then atleast one social subject. Obviously with out knowing the courses ur school run makes this harder. What courses are u thinking about taking next year

In S5 Im definitely taking Higher English, Maths and Modern (I wanted to take all 3 socials but collums wouldn't let me).

My problem is that I don't know if I should continue with geography in S5 and go onto take it to AH Geography and crash higher history in S6 or if I should crash higher History in S5 and go on to do AH history and higher geography in S6.

Another thing is i'm stuck picking between Spanish and Art for S5 as columns wouldn't let me take what I planned

I know for S6 Im definitely wanna take AH mods/politics, Higher RMPS, and geography & history but idk at what level. 🙂

So I would say re history/geography do which ever one you find easiest ) as both have relevance to IR.
And I guesse Spanish has more relevant to IR but I know a lang at higher is hard. Art also holds its own merits as it shows you can be expressive but is so time consuming.
Heads up politics also is only a higher course and I would make sure you wait till s6 to take it cause I took in at S5 instead of geography and now can’t take it any further 😭 but we live and learn.
Ultimately u would say take what u like and r intrested in because it’s ultimately more the grades uni care about:smile:

Hey I'm starting politics at Edinburgh this September with an unconditional offer, I did higher human bio, chem, English, and French in S5 at AAAA, and did nat 5 maths in S5 too. In S6, I did AH English, AH French, Higher Politics, and Higher Spanish. I don't think the subjects matter (apart from Higher English) as long as you get good grades in them so choose subjects that you know you will do well in, usually at the entry requirements or above, and a really good personal statement (but tbh I don't think most unis that I applied to read mine). I also had offers from Glasgow, Strathclyde, Dundee and Stirling if that helps
