Weather. I'll admit it's very changeable 😆. In terms of temperature we're about one, maybe two degrees colder than London but we're also in a rain shadow formed by the hills so we're actually A LOT dryer than the west side of the country. The BBC or Met Office weather forecasts are pretty good for what it's going to be like each day but more than a day or two ahead they get much less accurate, it's worth checking them out. Summers in York can be glorious; warm and dry, but yes they can also have the odd day of rain. I've never encountered a really bad summer where it's rained all the time though.

Nightlife. I think this depends on what you're looking for. York city does have lots of pubs and some clubs and there's a HUGE range of student societies who are very active. It doesn't have the same range as central London though, we're just not that big. We're also only a short train ride to Leeds and Manchester (the direct train to London is just over 2 hours) so those cities are accessible.

Diversity. The University itself is a very diverse community with a large international population (just check out the societies list 🙂). The city itself looks less diverse on paper but there are a few good international supermarkets catering to different nationalities and as someone who's mixed race I've personally been really happy here and have enjoyed exploring Yorkshire. I'd recommend chatting with current international students on Unibuddy to find out about their experiences.

Course. There are a couple of open days coming up if you want to chat to staff or meet people who are interested in the same course and half way down the same page there's a blog by a student currently doing your course too.
